SEEDS/ VARIETY REGISTRATION

Seeds sold in, imported into or exported from Canada must meet established quality standards. For many agricultural crops, varieties must be registered prior to sale. 

REGULATION

Seeds are regulated under the Seeds Act and Regulations which are administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (Seeds Section, Plant Health and Production Division).

Variety registration is also regulated under authority of the Seeds Act and Regulations and is administered by the Variety Registration Office of the Seeds Section.
